The Emergence Symposium is an engaging, all day conference that explores the direction and diversity of forms in the discipline of community arts, and features exciting guest speakers including international storyteller Laura Simms, amazing performances, facilitated networking sessions and much, much more.

Join more than 190 community arts practitioners, artists, policy makers and community leaders for a day of collaboration, inspiration, engagement and action!

At this event, participants will:

Hear from international storyteller and keynote speaker Laura Simms on her remarkable experiences and the transformative power of community arts practice.

Participate in 1 of 5 panel discussions involving leaders in community-engaged arts.

Engage in 1 of 5 networking sessions opening with Anandam Dancetheatre’s community-engagement and creation exploration.

Experience inspiring performances by artists from diverse and emerging communities of practice.

Make an important contribution to the ongoing discussion of the role, value and direction of community arts practice in Toronto and around the world.

The Neighbourhood Arts Network is a part of our Creative City: Block by Block program, which seeks to connect every Toronto neighbourhood with the transformative power of artistic activity. The Network is proud to be celebrating 2 years of service to community-engaged artists and cultural workers across Toronto.
